- How do I stop the spam on my flokka blog?!!!!
Spam is the bane of a blogger’s life - but it is easy to stop spam by simply activating the nifty free plug-in we have set up on your blog.
It’s called Akismet, and will automatically recognise and catch the spam and file it under spam - you won’t have to worry about spam again!.
To set this up you need to do a couple of things:
Firstly, you need an API key (a code that activates the Akismet). To do this you simply need to register at WordPress.com for a FREE username account that will give you the API key. Go to: http://www.wordpress.com/signup - and sign up for the username option only (you can use any username here!)
Once your account is active (you’ve received the email and clicked on the link to activate ), then log in ( or go here to log in: http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php) and under the Profile (or “edit profile” if you already have a wordpress blog) heading you’ll see a sentence which explains, “Your WordPress.com API key is:” followed by a string of 12 letters and numbers.
Copy this code (you now have your API Key!) and then:
Second step is to activate the akismet plugin on your flokka blog: To do this log into flokka and go to your ‘dashboard’; then go to ‘plugins’ (top right menu), here click on the Akismet plugin and ‘activate’. You’ll be asked for your API key - enter the code you’ve just sourced. And you’re done!
No more irritating spam! (the spam will be caught and automatically filed as spam)
